The Easter identify

This isn’t anything official – I pulled these concerns from a number of blogs as well as YouTube videos as well as selected the concerns I like best!

1. Do you celebrate Easter?
Yes. Although the root of Easter is a religious holiday (and some would suggest even a lot more significant than Christmas), I feel it’s such a cultural / commercialized holiday, a lot of people seem to “celebrate” Easter just by stuffing themselves full of chocolate.

Source.

2. What is your preferred thing about Easter?
The chocolate!

Feature picture source.

3. What are your plans for Easter this year?
Nothing as well interesting – off to the in-laws for dinner with the instant family. We’re truly low key, just like Christmas.

4. What is your fave color of jelly beans?
I like the yellow ones. I like citrus-y tasting jelly beans… although I’m not completely sure the regular jelly beans have different flavours? Unless we’re speaking about Jelly stomach here.  Then my much-loved would be pear! I like the pear flavoured Jelly Belly.

Source.

5. Do you embellish eggs?
Not anymore however we utilized to annually as kids. We normally got those shrink wrap plastic sleeves that melted around the eggs when you put them in hot water – they were so easy!

Source.

6. What is the best Easter meal?
We usually have spiral ham instead of turkey.  We will likely have sufficient left over spiral ham for a number of meals after.  Dessert is normally ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins.

7. What part of the chocolate bunny do you eat first?
It’s got to be the ears!

Source.

8. exactly how old were you when you stopped hunting eggs?
I most likely hunted for eggs much longer than I should. however c’mon, complimentary candy! My mommy utilized to produce truly sophisticated treasure search style hints with rhyming hints as well as everything. as well as our prize? A lot of difficult boiled eggs which would get made into egg salad sandwiches…

9. preferred Easter treat?
Kinder Surprise! I’m sorry to my American buddies who cannot get these… I believe the legislation banning them are so ridiculous!

Source.

10. bunnies or chicks?
I believe this concern is about marshmallow Peeps so I would have to state chicks! They’re the original!

Source.

Hope you all have a Hoppy Easter!

Sundays With Tabs the Cat, makeup and charm blog Mascot, Vol. 633

Rosie got no chill.

For such a tiny torbie, she’s surprisingly high strung when it comes to the gangs of turkeys roaming about the estate. Yes, she refers to our neighborhood as her “estate,” and the turkeys are trespassing upon her land.

They’re only doing what the turkeys do every year. They strut about, fluffing their feathers to let everyone know that they’re the kings of the neighborhood, but Rosie isn’t having any of that.

Rosie is convinced that they’re plotting to overthrow the neighborhood. “Nefarious plots,” she calls them.

She’s taken it upon herself to lead the torbie army to protect the land.

It’s a side of her I haven’t seen before. She’s quite the warrior kitty.

Guerlain holiday 2105: Perles Des Neiges

I had seen quite a few promotional images of the Guerlain holiday 2105 Perles Des Neiges Meteorites (those star-shaped pearls!), but nothing prepared me for how beautiful the snowball orb-like packaging is! This just might be the item that I’d break my No-Buy for….! I’m so smitten with this!

fromSandyxo

This must be the most anticipate release for this holiday!  Well at least it was for me:)  You can never have enough of these little pots of Meterorites balls right!

I placed an order from Escentual as soon as I found out that it was available in the UK.

This year the packaging is everything!  The casing is  a snowball, and there are some star-shaped pieces within these meteorites pearls. It also comes with a powder puff with a golden ribbon.

I read that the delicate illumination is perfected with the beige pearls to even out the skin tone, champagne to brighten, and gold for a sun-kissed effect. This beauty is also supposed to blur lines and imperfections for a radiant result.  Some loves Guerlain Meteorites and addicts to the effects that they can give.  And some just can not tell the difference and do not understand the need to…

My much-loved pre-made eye shadow palettes

perhaps I’m being as well loose with the term “palette” since most of my favourites are just quads – however I mean they autumn under the umbrella of palettes? To me, a combination is anything a lot more than a duo – so trios, quads, as well as quints all qualify.  What I’m trying to state is that I do not like big scale pre-made palettes. I understand that within a palette, I will always end up with at least one dud, as well as the a lot more shades within a palette, the higher the chances are that I will end up with many duds (so no, I do not own any type of of the metropolitan Decay naked palettes!)

My requirements for a great combination is one that I like most, if not all, of the shades, as well as one that I can produce a almost total eye look from. They’re fantastic for travelling as well as those days when I just want a one stop shop for my eye shadow look.  Here are my much-loved pre-made eye shadow palettes.

MAC Bare My Soul: Eye shadow X4 (Romantico, Bare My Soul, Friendly, When In Rio) – $52
I’m m sorry to begin off with a restricted edition combination however this is SO great that I just had to include it. Normally, I don’t choose pre-made MAC palettes – I own just 3 of them – sometimes the high quality are not always as great as their singles. Besides, MAC sells pan type of their eye shadows as well as empty palettes, it’s a no-brainer to develop my own.  But, this introduced in the temperature Rising collection in summertime of 2013 as well as was just special sufficient for me to pay attention. It has all shimmery shades however they are each high high quality as well as this combination alone would nearly total an eye look. I would perhaps need a matte shift shade for blending however that’s not a huge deal.

My much-loved shades in this combination are Romantico as well as Friendly.  The eco-friendly in When In Rio doesn’t actually doesn’t apply all that eco-friendly – it’s a duochrome with a strong dark brown base.

Illamasqua Neutral combination (Stealth, Vintage, Wolf, Obsidian) – $45 (was bought at The Bay however the brand is no longer offered in north america – on the internet only)
Trust me to purchase actually the most tame combination that Illamasqua has ever released.  But it’s a great fundamental – 3 matte shades (off-white, brown as well as a black = the Trifecta) as well as a sensational antique gold shimmery shade makes this a one combination wonder.

I frequently just wear vintage on its own around the lid, as well as then utilize Stealth as a brow bone highlight as well as phone call it a day. I keep in mind the makeup artists at the Illamasqua counter would rave about Obsidian as being the blackest black, however I discover it somewhat grey, as well as rather a dry formula.  Wolf makes a fantastic liner for a smudgy look.

Lancome color style Eye Brightening All-In-One five shadow & liner Palette Taupe trend 001 – $57 (department stores)
This was a gift from a buddy as well as it was immediate love!  The shades are all extremely wearable as well as as a stand alone palette, this has everything (sorry there are no private shade names in this combination however there are placement guidelines): 1 all-over base (I utilize this as my brow bone highlight), 2 lid (my much-loved shade of this combination – so delighted they made it the greatest pan), 3 crease (or shift shade which is matte), 4 highlight (this is method as well shimmery for brow bone highlight, I such as this for inner corner), 5 liner (or for the crease).

The high quality of these eye shadows are extremely buttery – the only drawback is that the shimmers tend to have some fall-out.  I do desire they have made the crease shade larger as well as less of the “highlight” which is a bit sheer.

Estee Lauder Pure color 5 Colour Eyeshadow combination 08 Bronze Dunes $50 (I believe EL has discontinued these palettes!  The new “Sculpting” 5 pans are most likely worth a look, the closest colours are “Rebel Metal” as well as “Defiant Nude”)
The warmness of this combination put me off at first, however I discovered to make it work by lightly dusting the matte brown shade on my lid as well as then blending the warm coppery shade on top, concentrating it in the inner corner.

The mattes in this combination are fantastic.  The formula of these shadows are a bit a lot more on the dry side, however the wear time of these shadows are the longest out of all of the palettes featured in this post.  I bring this combination on work trips when I understand that I will have long days.  The only irritating thing about this combination is exactly how tough it is to open!

Elizabeth Arden color Intrigue Eyeshadow Quad Sueded Browns – $15 (Winners – I’m not sure if these are still offered at counters however they’re on EA’s site)
Best $15 spent.  This combination is pigmented as well as versatile.  And compact size is, well, extremely compact.  The top 2 shades are satins without any typeof visible shimmer, as well as the bottom 2 shades have a extremely fine-tuned shimmer to them.

The eye shadow high quality is absolutely amazing – extremely blendable as well as long wearing.  I’m going to make a strong statement: I believe this is my top pick out of the palettes shown in this post.  I was so delighted with this discover at Winners that I trekked around town in really hopes that other places would stock more colours – my determination paid off: I likewise scored the Neutral Cashmeres and Velvet Plumtones.  They’re all great however Sueded Browns is my much-loved for a go to single combination look.

Those are my much-loved pre-made eye shadow palettes – let me understand what yours are!

Review: Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

I purchased the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer during the April Sephora VIB sale as well as started using it in May.

Spoiler alert: this product made it into my recent favourites list. So you understand it scores at least 8 or above out of 10. as well as here’s why.

The Nars packaging is quite iconic. Simple, rounded squares with a rubberized finish:

That cap does draw in powders as well as smudges like a magnet. however I do appreciate that the cap lines up completely with the base when I close the tube – it’s the bit things that matter! It has a doe-foot wand applicator which is quite basic with concealers. I don’t have a strong preference for a wand or a capture tube – there are pros as well as cons for both.

There are 10 colours provided in this concealer, which I believe is impressive:

From L to R:
Chantilly – true ivory shade for fairest complexions
Vanilla – small cast of pink for the fair complexion
Honey – warm peach tone for light to medium complexion
Custard – Yellow tone for light to medium complexion
Ginger – golden undertone for undertones medium complexion
Biscuit – medium dark natural balance of pink as well as yellow undertones
Caramel – medium dark yellow as well as golden undertones
Amande – medium dark with golden olive undertones
Cafe – Dark shade with warm red
Cacao – Dark shade with deep gold-brown undertones

I was matched to Custard (Medium 1) which I believe is about a 90% match for my NC20 skin tone – the shades on either side are as well peachy / dark for me.

Claims:
• long using as well as crease-proof
• Blurs appearance of lines as well as wrinkles
• Hides dark circles as well as indications of fatique
• Buildable medium to full coverage
• Botanical blend assists to firm as well as stamina skin
• Antioxidant protection
• Paraben-free, Alcohol free, synthetic fragrance free, Non comedogenic

The concealer certainly delivers on being long using as well as crease-proof. These are most likely the top 2 high qualities I look for in an under eye concealer. The structure of the concealer is creamy as well as thicker than the typical concealer.  And the protection is one of the very best I’ve discovered in an under eye concealer – it conceals my dark circles without looking mask-like.

I feel that Custard looks fantastic when very first applied, however it does oxidize slightly:

L to R: freshly applied, dried after 15 minutes, as well as over Becca Under Eye Corrector (blended)
I’d discussed that when I went to the as well dealt with born This method Concealer pre-launch event, the SA guessed which Nars concealer shade I was using since of exactly how peach it looked. She suggested that I go a shade lighter – however this isn’t an choice since the lighter shade, Honey, is even more peach (and the next shade down, Vanilla, is as well light as well as pink).  It’s likely that the Nars concealer had oxidized, as well as I believe it’s possible that I had used as well much of the Becca Under Eye Brightening Concealer underneath.  I’ve tested this concealer different ways: on its own, over Becca Under Eye Concealer, as well as likewise set with Nars Light Reflecting Looser setting Powder. My favored method to wear this is over the corrector as well as set with powder.

It’s likewise a fuss-free concealer in terms of application: I apply the concealer by placing 3-4 dots under each eye, then I tap with my sound finger to blend in. Some days I utilize a Beauty Blender-type sponge to blend, however many days I just use my fingers – it provides a streak-free, smooth application.  I mainly utilize this concealer for my under eye area because it seems to be marketed for that purpose, however, I did try it for area concealing as well as for redness around my nose, as well as it carried out extremely well for that function too. I still choose stick concealer for area concealing as they’re much more pigmented as well as last longer. Lastly, I ought to mention that when I very first started utilizing this concealer, I believed it was triggering milia (little bumps) around my eyes, however it turns out it wasn’t – phew! (I suspect it was a sample eye cream I was testing)

This costs $36 CAD for 6ml of product, as well as is made in the USA. Nars is sold at Sephora as well as Hudson’s Bay in Canada.  I’ve been using this concealer for just 2 months as well as I already feel like it’s starting to get utilized up – I will screen exactly how long a tube lasts me.

I chose to begin a much more objective comparison for specific products like concealers as well as mascaras because those are the products I scrutinize the most. Here’s exactly how Nars stacks up against other concealers I’ve tried:

The scores on this chart don’t necessarily translate to the final score – they don’t take into account other elements like cost / value, packaging, scent, shade range, etc:

Here’s my final score of the Nars concealer:

Pros:
• outstanding coverage
• Creamy consistency
• Does not crease or work out into fine lines
• long long lasting finish
• great for both under eye as well as area concealing
• broad variety of colours

Cons:
• Expensive
• Oxidizes slightly

Stash worthiness: 8/10

The high cost of this concealer truly drops its score for me.  For a fantastic budget option, I extremely suggest the Maybelline Age Rewind Eraser concealer.  Edited to add: numerous evaluations compare Maybelline’s in shape Me Concealer as a less expensive dupe to the Nars as well as I state NOPE! in shape Me offers method less protection as well as does not last all the time like the Nars does.  The only similarities I see are: both are creamy, simple to apply, as well as have similar packaging. That’s it. [I’ve added the Maybelline in shape Me in the tables above]

The Nars site listings their bestsellers, as well as the concealer is placed #5 – after Orgasm blush, Laguna bronzer, VIP Red Semi Matte lipstick, Dominique Audacious lipstick. Although, I don’t truly count the 2 lipsticks since one is restricted edition as well as the other is an on the internet only special – so actually, let’s phone call the concealer #3, after Orgasm blush as well as Laguna bronzer. That is outstanding thinking about that this concealer isn’t even that old in Nars’ line-up, it was only introduced in 2013! Surely, Orgasm blush as well as Laguna bronzer have to be at least 10 years old? [I just checked, Orgasm blush was lunched in 1999 as well as I couldn’t discover a conclusive year for the bronzer] Anyway… all I’m stating is, this concealer is popular, as well as I can comprehend why.  Have you tried this concealer?

Nails of the Week, Smith & Cult Bitter Buddhist | Your thoughts on Lash Serum?

Smith & Cult Bitter Buddhist
Hi, guys! This is an OG fave shade that I’ve had and loved for years, Smith & Cult Bitter Buddhist. It’s a pale spring green with gray undertones and a fun alternative to the common pastel mint greens that so typically pop up in the spring.

I love it because it’s one of those colors that can look completely different depending on the light. in some cases it’s much more green, other times it’s much more blue!

I was poking around the Smith & Cult site recently, and discovered there’s a similar shade with a different name — Bitter Cashmere Daydream. If you love complex pale greens, this is certainly one to consider.

Your thoughts on lash serum?

Why yes, I added big lashes to this pony.
I’ve been trying to figure out why every mascara I’ve worn in the last few months has been sorely disappointing, and I think I might’ve found the reason. After years of using lash serum to bump up my fringe, I quit last fall. There was really no rhyme or reason to the decision; I was mostly too exhausted to remember to put it on before bed! Days turned into weeks, then weeks turned into months, then next thing ya know, every mascara bums me out.

I think my lashes have slowly returned to their natural state, which is in the grand scheme of things is no big deal. but still.

On one hand, it’s one less thing for me to do in my routine (YES), but on the other hand, my hella basic lashes are back. LOL.

What are your thoughts on lash serums? Do you use them? Don’t use them? If you’ve used them in the past and quit, what happened to your lashes? I’d love to hear your story.

Blogmas Day 21: Christmas store windows & screens

one of the very best things about the holidays is seeing all of the store windows dressed up with joyful displays. In Toronto, the Hudson’s Bay always put on an elegant screen in their windows which is extremely anticipated when they’re revealed in November.  I occurred to be walking by when I observed a van providing this year’s holiday props:

Canada geese!  The windows behind them were still covered up at the time.

Here they are unveiled:

The figurines are mechanical so they step as well as have music playing too:

I keep in mind one year they really had online kitties in the screens in support of the regional animal shelter!

Here are a couple of photos inside of the Hudson’s Bay store – this is where those Canada Geese went to:
