The Chanel Les Beiges summer 2015 Collection: This kind of beige Makes everything better

wearing pieces from the new Chanel Les Beiges summer 2015 Collection
There’s beige…a color which is typically associated with drab hospital walls, sensible shoes and cat barf.

That face you make when you find a fresh glob of goopy cat barf on your treadmill, beside which stands your cat, looking all smug and self-satisfied…
And then there’s Chanel Beige. also known as yaaaaaas.

I have no idea how Chanel turned a color as historically boring as beige into something so covetable, but they did it with the new Les Beiges summer 2015 Collection.

Pretty pieces from the new Chanel Les Beiges summer 2015 Collection…

The Chanel Les Beiges summer 2015 collection includes…

Chanel Les Beiges healthy glow Multi-Colour broad Spectrum SPF 15 Sunscreen in Mariniere No. 1 and Marinimere No. 02 ($65 each)

Les Beiges blush healthy glow sheer Colour Sticks in No. 20, No. 21 and No. 22 ($45 each)

Le Vernis nail Colours in beige Rose, beige Pur, precious beige and lovely beige ($27 each)

Levres Scintillantes Glossimers in 204 rose Tendre and 206 beige star ($30 each)

Les Beiges healthy glow Hydrating Lip Balm ($36)

Retractable Kabuki brush ($70)

Les Beiges healthy glow sheer Colour SPF 15 in No. 10, No. 20, No. 30, No. 40, No. 50, No. 60 and No. 70 ($58 each)

Les Beiges All-In-One healthy glow fluid broad Spectrum SPF 15 Sunscreen in No. 10, No. 20., No. 30, No. 40, No. 50 and No. 60 ($45 each)

For the hardcore Chanel-ophiles among us, I’ll get to that striped face powder in the above picture and what it’s doing there in a minute, but first! — what is Les Beiges?

Well, it’s two things. One, it’s a line of sheer face powders in the Chanel permanent collection, and two, it’s also a collection of sun-protected and healthy glowing skin-themed annual summertime products released by Chanel for summer over the past couple years.

Think polished but not overly perfected, and picture sheer tinted moisturizers, cream blushes and sheer face powders. All very summery.

This year’s Les Beiges summer 2015 release follow that same idea, and it includes multicolored face/cheek powders, stick blushes (these are new!), nail polishes, a couple of glosses, a balm, a retractable kabuki brush, face powders and tinted moisturizers. The only things listed on the Chanel website as “limited edition” are the tinted moisturizers, so here’s to hoping that most of these items stick around a while.

Chanel Les Beiges healthy glow Multi-Color No. 02 broad Spectrum SPF 15 Sunscreen ($65)

Now, about that striped face powder in the above picture…OK, I didn’t realize until after taking these pictures that this version here is from last year’s Les Beiges summer 2014 Collection.

Yup.

Whoops! My bad. This year’s version has more stripes (see here), as well as two colors in the pan instead of three, but if the 2015 version’s finish is like last year’s, which I believe it is, it should be worth checking out.

The pan of Les Beiges healthy glow Multi-Colour Powder in No. 02 in these pics, which I’m wearing as a sheer bronzer, creates a soft, natural-looking sheen/glow. In these pics I’m wearing it lightly dusted around the perimeter of my face, across the bridge of my nose and toward the back of my cheeks.

As for the other Les Beiges pieces I’ve been wearing…

Chanel Les Beiges All-In-One healthy glow fluid broad Spectrum SPF 15 Sunscreen

Chanel Les Beiges Sunscreen
Les Beiges All-In-One healthy glow fluid broad Spectrum SPF 15 Sunscreen, a tinted moisturizer with SPF, is lightweight, sheer (expensive) and pore-blurring, with a strong gardenia and green apple scent. Skin looks natural when wearing it, but ever-so-slightly perfected. When I use it, my skin tone appears even, but I can still see my freckles.

I wear shade No. 40, which is a deep tan with slightly peach undertones, and for reference, I’m a MAC NC42. My skin leans warm with yellow undertones, and No. 40 is a tad darker and peachier than I usually like to wear. but because it’s quite sheer, I think it’s still doable.

The moral of this story is this: if you can’t find an exact match for your skin tone with this product, don’t fret. If you can get close, you can probably still work it.

I really dig this tinted moisturizer. It’s comfortable and beautiful, and I love the non-fussy semi-matte finish.

I am kind of alarmed, though, that it’s listed on the Chanel website as limited edition. Why is the good stuff always LE? Ack! It SUCKS!!!

Chanel Les Beiges blush healthy glow sheer Colour Stick in No. 21

Chanel Les Beiges blush Stick No. 21 ($45)
Les Beiges blush healthy glow sheer Colour Stick in No. 21 feels exactly like Chanel’s cream Blush, except that it comes in stick packaging. What starts as a silky cream when it’s first applied dries down to a powder with a satiny finish. apply itwith either fingers or a brush because both work well.

No. 21, the shade I’m wearing in these pics, is a warm pinkish coral, and I’m kind of in love with it. Being visible but not hella obvious, it should be terrific for summer.

Also terrific for helping me on my quest to become “Cool Auntie Karen,” who differs from “Crazy Auntie Karen who wears too much Rouge.”

Chanel Les Vernis nail Colour in 663 lovely Beige

Wearing two coats of Le Vernis in 663 lovely Beige
Honestly, I can’t say that beige nail polish makes me want to drop my pants, but if there were a beige nail polish capable of doing that, it would be one from Chanel. Obviously.

This shade, 663 lovely Beige, is exactly that. A lovely beige. Ladylike and warm, it’s pigmented to the nines. You could easily do one coat of this peachy beige and go on your merry way.

If you’re into classic, casual makeup that doesn’t look heavy, I think you’ll find something to love in Chanel Les Beiges, available now online and at Chanel counters.

Smoky, amazing and Shimmery Plum With the Tarte pretty Paintbox Set, Bite appeal Cashew and MAC dancing flowers

feeling plummy today with Tarte’s pretty Paintbox from the holiday 2016 collection
Look. At. This. Makeup.

Where was a going that I needed to put on makeup like this? I don’t know… I don’t think I was going anywhere. I wish I could say that I was going out to dinner or something, but I think the most exciting thing I did while I was wearing this look was take out the trash…

I did run into my neighbor, though, and we talked about her pet dog a little, so at least somebody got to see the fruit of my labor IRL.

I’m wearing the Bite appeal Multistick in Cashew here, and I tell you — it’s the best color! It’s underneath a bunch of things on my lids. I sort of used it as an eyeshadow lid primer.

I think it’s SO beautiful, especially with colors like the ones I’m wearing.

Eyes: Bite appeal Cashew Multi-Stick, Tarte pretty Paintbox eyeshadows (Van Gogh With It in the crease, and first Impressionism, hot MOMA and get Surreal mixed on the lids), Tarte Tarteist Black eyeliner (from the Wingworkers holiday set), Tarte Tartiest Mascara (from pretty Paintbox)

Cheeks: moment blush, Authentic highlighter and special bronzer from Tarte pretty Paintbox

Lips: dancing flowers from the MAC Nutcracker sweet retro Matte Plum Kit

I’m wearing kind of a rosy taupe-ish brown in my crease, and there’s some shimmery cool-toned purplish gray action happening on my lids that I made by mixing a bunch of colors in this Tarte palette (I marked them with hearts down below).

I grabbed a bunch of shades with the same brush, buffed them on the back of my hand, and then popped them on my lid.

It’s just a phase I’m going through. I like making my own colors. It makes me feel like I’m a mad scientist in a appeal lab or something…

OK, so, my lid color is very amazing toned, but I think it balances with the warmth of the browns in my crease. I like that juxtaposition, but of course you could absolutely stick to one or the other using just cool-toned shadows or warm-toned shadows, and still do a look like this.

MAC dancing flowers Lipstick
The shades I used from the pretty Paintbox…

The skin

I did something a little different for my skin this time. I set my timer and did my eyes first, but then when I looked at the clock, I only had like two seconds left, so I grabbed MAC Matchmaster shade intelligence Compact foundation in 4.0 and Sephora bright Future Gel Serum Concealer.

Goin’ for grungy imperfection on the eyes…
Oh, that highlight, though! It’s the highlighter from the Tarte pretty Paintbox…
First, I dabbed a little of the Sephora serum on my cheeks.

Next, I opened the MAC compact and kind of pressed a skunk brush into it, and you know how cushion compacts have that sponge? Well, I gently pressed the skunk brush into it to pick up some product. then I used that brush to buff out the concealer on my cheeks.

It’s just a really quick way to get a good amount of coverage that doesn’t take a ton of effort.

The plummy matte lip is a really fun color from the MAC holiday collection called MAC dancing flowers Lipstick. I think it’s a really delighted color, and I like how it plays with the plum tones on my lids.

5 things I’ve Been Loving Lately

new shades of Sally Hansen color therapy polish from the left! — falling Deep, Bronze Reflection, dusty Plum, Pink and Harmony, Cashmere Calm ($7.99 each)
1. These stunning nude Sally Hansen color therapy nail colors

I can’t decide what to wear for the next installment of Desperately seeking Persistent Polish! too lots of choices… I’m leaning toward dark burgundy falling Deep, considering that I wore a pastel cream last week. What do you think?

2. MAC Cosmo Lipstick

Busted this out for the first time in months and remembered why I love it so much. This neutral pink with a hint of brown is a charming everyday lip color, and it looks amazeballs with brown and taupe eyeshadows!

3. Kim’s Convenience

I found the best show on Netflix! In every single episode, there’s at least one moment where I have to hit pause and yell to nobody in particular that “SERIOUSLY, THIS show IS generally MY LIFE.”

I’m not Korean, and my parents never owned a grocery store (they’re both retired accountants)…and I’ve never lived in Toronto (Bay area strong!), but the family stuff rings so true growing up Asian with immigrant parents — especially the miscommunication and how the family members express their love for each other. I’ve laughed and cried my way through both of the seasons on Netflix. It’s the most authentic show I’ve ever seen about growing up in an Asian immigrant family, but it’s also just good. very witty, funny writing IMO.

4. Iowa girl Eats

Found out about this terrific gluten-free cooking blog thanks to a recommendation from a reader (hi, Kate!). I like it because the recipes are yummy (priority #1, of course), easy to follow, and the ingredients are things you can find at a lot of any ol’ grocery store.

BBQ Sausage, Beans and greens —-> this was a substantial hit in our household.

My fam-bam loved the BBQ Sausage, Beans and greens and Taco Chili (I wish I took a photo of the Taco Chili, but we inhaled it too fast).

Nobody was crazy about the Coconut chicken Curry, though… It tasted kinda bland, but if I try it again I’m gonna double the amount of curry spice.

5. Tom Ford Vanille Fatale Eau de Parfum

Otherwise known as “Eau de Schmexy Librarian,” otherwise known as “My new fall Scent Obsession.”

Think vanilla pods, old books, leather club chairs, seduction, and the lingering scent of sweet tobacco.

P.S. TGIF.

Outfit of the Day: A comfortable sweatshirt gown by LOFT, a J. team adventure Quilted Vest, as well as a Cray-Cray morning

It feels great to be wearing, like, genuine clothes, since before I put on this outfit, I was using pajamas…and running down the street, barefoot, chasing a DHL shipment truck as well as yelling “STOP!” at the top of my lungs.

I was likewise waving a extremely unusual six-foot long tube-like bundle in the air while I was doing this. At practically six months pregnant. Of course.

Basically, DHL incorrectly provided it this morning, as well as by the time I realized that it wasn’t for me (I signed for it as well as everything), the DHL van was practically a block away!

I freaked out! I ran out the door barefoot in my PJs as well as chased them down…as awkwardly as a rather expecting barefoot lady might run. Luckily, they should have either seen my uncomfortable hobbling or heard my shouts, since they stopped, as well as yes, they were laughing.

I took the event as a indication to modification my clothes when I got home…

(Oh, as well as I have no concept what the long tube-like bundle was.)

And here’s my outfit! nothing is designated maternity. It’s all just typical clothes.

That’s the Cozystitch sweatshirt gown by loft in Teal night Melange, which I grabbed on sale for 40% off a few weeks ago, so I suggest waiting up until the next sale instead of purchasing it full cost (I am sooo my mother’s daughter). I like it since it’s soft, comfortable as well as has some stretch, so there’s great deals of space to rock a tum.

It likewise is available in two much more shades — Toasty Camel as well as Dark Ruby. I saw both of them in the store, too, as well as they’re likewise extremely cute.

I paired the gown with these suede over-the-knee boots from Sam Edelman that I got last season (for 50% off!) since I like exactly how the shorter hem of the gown looks with the high boots. however if you don’t like over-the-knee boots, I bet black tights as well as black booties would work great, too.

To total the outfit, I added a chambray top (also from loft last spring), a leopard-print J. team belt (which, when upon a time, in shape around my hips), a J. team adventure Quilted Vest as well as a plaid infinity scarf.

I wished to get a bit dressed up today since I satisfied a couple of girlfriends for high tea in San Francisco this afternoon. We went to the Neiman Marcus Rotunda in Union Square (AMAZING views, fun high-tea service with savory sandwiches as well as those small cakes). It was just me, Marisol as well as Arianne from shine Geek, as well as I got to satisfy Arianne’s new baby, Sarah Rose, who’s three months old (and extremely cute).

I had a excellent time, as well as I didn’t have to do any type of much more barefoot running, yay!

The Day in beauty Vol. 25: Chanel’s new No. 5, as well as a hello From Redding, California!

The new Chanel No. 5 L’Eau
L’eau, the places, we’ll go! I’d like to take you to Paris or Hawaii, my friend…but for now, exactly how about Redding, California? That’s where I’m composing you from today.

Confession: I like me some Chanel, however I’m not truly a Chanel No. 5 kind of girl. I’ve used it many times throughout the years in the really hopes that I’d autumn in like with it since of its storied history as well as iconic past and, you know, since it’s Chanel, however it always felt like a pair of shoes that never rather in shape me as completely as I’d like. Scent is such a personal thing, as well as No. 5 always seemed a bit as well serious for me.

I keep in mind going to Filipino celebrations when I was young as well as being required to hug aunties that I didn’t know, as well as they would always be using Chanel No. 5, as well as noisy jewelry, as well as they always had huge hair, as well as when I hugged them, it would tickle my nose (the huge hair as well as Chanel No. 5).

No. 5 L’Eau is a new version coming to Chanel counters this autumn — a reimagining of the scent — that will sit together with the original, as well as I like it.

With L’Eau, you definitely get the sense that you’re using No. 5, however it’s noticeably different. It still brings many of the original’s exact same notes, like may rose, however in a lighter elixir that seems more delicate and, attempt I say, more fun.

Lemon, mandarin as well as orange stand front as well as center. To my nose, L’Eau seems airier than the original No. 5 as well as almost weightless, like a clean of tulle against naked skin.

Look for it this autumn at Chanel counters. The 3.4-oz. bottle shown right here is $132.

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday, babes. It will be a hot one right here in Redding, as it always is this time around of year (over 110 degrees!), so my huge plan for the day will include discovering the coolest area in an air conditioned room.

I inspected in with Tabs this morning over Skype, as well as he as well as his preferred petsitter haven’t thrown any type of ragers yet. Let’s hope they don’t.

They’re moderately long-lasting as well. The thicker formula sticks around, however the glossy structure likewise means that they will transfer onto cups as well as teeth if you aren’t careful.

My favorites ended up being all 3 of these metallics, all of which are forgiving on the lips as well as look truly special, as well as it assists that I can quickly get full protection from them from extremely bit of the product.

The solid opaque colors are trickier to pull off, being SO glossy as well as SO opaque. Wasabi was the one “womp-womp” shade that did provide me the exact same protection level as the rest, however it fell into my lip lines, unfortunately.

Neat as well as new to Me: MAC Springsheen Sheertone Shimmer Powder blush

MAC Sheertone Shimmer blush in Springsheen ($22)
Neat as well as new to Me

Unlike my Unsung Heroes series, which features long-term collection products I’ve understood as well as liked a long time, the Neat as well as new to Me series showcases long-term collection products that slipped under my radar for a while, however then I found them! — as well as now I believe they’re neat as well as new to me.

I affectionately refer to MAC Sheertone Shimmer blush in Springsheen as “strobing for lazy people.” (Like me!)

It’s a gorgeous pinkish coral color with golden pearl, as well as I can’t be the only person who likewise likes the name. I keep hearing the words “Bruce Springsheen,” as well as then I photo the bit compact with small arms as well as legs playing a guitar…

Anyway! It illuminates the apples of my cheeks with a quite pinkish coral while the golden pearl in it makes my cheekbones softly glow.

I’m never not trying to find methods to streamline my makeup routine as well as get out the door quicker, as well as that’s one of the reasons I like Springsheen, which isn’t new, however I only just recently found it in the MAC long-term line.

My routine with it? — BB cream, powder, as well as then a couple layers of Springsheen on my cheeks. No requirement to wear a separate highlighter since Springsheen’s built-in pearl quite much works the exact same way. then I’ll do my lashes, brows as well as lips, either with a lipstick, or with a gloss with a hint of gold in it like MAC Nymphette, huge infant or great Buzz.

The very first time I swiped (Bruce) Springsheen on the back of my hand I thought, “Ooh, NARS Orgasm!” since it does look a bit like that, however I believe it’s a lot more elegant. The golden pearl bits are finer as well as not as “in your face,” as well as I likewise just like the method Springsheen feels. I believe it’s softer as well as smoother than Orgasm, as well as likewise much easier to blend, methinks.

Estée Lauder double wear Deep Dive: Stay-in-Place EyeShadow Base

double WearStay-in-Place EyeShadow Base, $21
What is Deep Dive? I’m pleased you asked! It’s a new series in which I’m evaluating a bunch of Estée Lauder double wear products from their permanent collection. Let’s find out what’s good! ?

I’ve been deep diving…metaphorically, into the world of Estée Lauder double wear as of late (in a nutshell, it’s soooo good!), so, in today’s episode of “The Previous Life and Times of Karen’s numerous Failed Dates,” we explore the two seconds during which I dated a wanna-be Olympic diver.

He was beautiful, tan, book-smart and drove an old Mustang, but I knew it would never go anywhere because whenever I’d tell a joke he’d just sit there and blink slowly… like crazy slow. and it would go on for, like, a minute.

It was so awkward! ?

At first I wondered if he had a awful case of dry eyes, but then I realized that he just didn’t get my sense of humor. I dunno… maybe I’d just assumed he got all of those abdominal muscles from laughing? Needless to say, it was over before it ever started, because in the immortal words of Hall and Oats, I can’t opt for that. (No can do.)

OH, MY GAWD, KAREN, get TO YOUR POINT. OK, OK! I’ve always liked Estée Lauder makeup, but it’s only been recently that I really started to love and appreciate the brand thanks to all things double Wear, because everything I’ve tried so far has been magic.

I’m an NC42 for reference.

What I’m into these days (in addition to double wear Light, which is the sh*t), is the eye primer, double wear Stay-in-Place EyeShadow Base ($21). It’s a satiny beige cream primer for powder shadows (imagine a creamier, silkier version of a MAC paint Pot).

It’s made for all skin types, but I think it’s especially great for lids with fine line action because it doesn’t look thick or heavy at all. Eyeshadow looks like it’s bear-hugging my lids (so there aren’t any certainly visible powder grains sitting on the surface of the skin).

I typically wear eyeliner and one or two eyeshadows — easy stuff, no intense blending — so I can’t say how this primer holds up to three transition shades in the crease, or how it fares during a long night out at the club. If that’s what you’re into, then try MAC Prep + primer 24-Hour extend Base instead. What I can say is that this primer is a solid everyday eyeshadow primer, and it’s extra kind to fine lines. and even on hot days when I’m perspiring, I still get a full day of wear. I’m into it!
